PHLYCTENULARIS KERATOCONJUNCTIVITIS DUE TO TUBERCULOSIS IN CHILDREN
Tuberculosis (TB) remains
a mayor health problem in South-East Asian region and ranks high in the list of
causes of morbidity and mortality.
Indonesia has the highest TB infection rate in the world. TB is
a disease caused by the acid-fast bacillus (AFB) Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB
usually affect the lungs (pulmonary TB) but it can also affect any other part
of the body (extrapulmonary TB). Extrapulmonary
TB constitutes 10% of total TB. TB can cause a wide variety of ophthalmic
findings, ranging from the ocular surface through the optic nerve and to the
Central Nervous System.
